The 2013 5K run is sponsored by the City of Lake Mary and Be A Trailblazer Inc., a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to improving the health and quality of life for area citizens through exercise and other recreational activities.

The Trailblazers organization was founded in 2001, and their projects include the improvement of the Rinehart Road recreational trail that will be part of the 5k run route. Through their efforts and the generosity of local businesses, organizations, individuals and government, over $350,000 was raised to add rest areas, exercise stations, water fountains and landscaping to the 2.3 mile Rinehart Recreational Trail. In 2006, they worked with the City of Lake Mary to renovate the Lake Mary Historical Museum and add events and activities to educate and entertain the community. In early 2008, the Trailblazers dedicated a new $750,000 splash park and state of the art playground for area children.

Proceeds from this event help support the enhancement and development of other community projects.

The 4th Street Bar and Grill will be providing 2 free beers to runners after the race.
